Porter v Magill [2002] 2 AC 357 was a House of Lords case which arose out of the Homes for votes scandal involving Dame Shirley Porter.

Background

The homes for votes scandal involved Shirley Porter the leader of Westminister City Council formulating a policy which appeared to be designed to sell off council housing for the purpose of electoral advantage in marginal wards.[1]
